These bags are light and easy to use, simply slip the straps through one another to fasten. Can either be carried in your hand or slipped over your wrist making these bags suitable for everyday basics as well as a great addition to any special occasion outfit.

Bags measure approximately 18cm in height with a 10cm by 11cm base, straps measure 16cm.

Based on a design from 1941, these bags were originally designed to carry a gas mask.

By the winter of 1939 around 40 million gas masks had been issued. Supplied in a cardboard case with a strap made from a length of string, although not compulsory, people were advised to carry them at all times.

Handbags with special compartments for a gas mask and fabric covered cardboard cases soon became available. And it wasn’t long before the fashion magazines started to run articles telling women how to make their own stylish containers such a this bag.

Please see description below for fabric and washing details.
